My name is Jennifer Wiebe, and I am a family physician. I am excited about going on my second CACHA Uganda Mission in March 2025.

I am not requesting funds for my mission costs as I have chosen to cover those costs myself.  However, I do have a special mission project that could really use your help!

During this February 2025 mission we hope to provide eye glasses for people in Kamengo, Uganda who need them. We are partnering with Global Vision 2020 to help provide prescription eyeglasses to people with poor vision in Kamengo and the surrounding villages. We will be using the USee Vision Kit, which was developed and patented by Kevin White, an ex-U.S. Marine. This system, at a cost of approximately $3500 CAD includes two testers and supplies for 550 eyeglasses.  It is designed to provide prescription eyeglasses to people in the most remote areas on earth – people who have no access to eye care.  The method is low-tech, can be done within minutes, and with this system 92% of people with poor vision can achieve at least 20/30 vision on their best eye, equivalent to what is needed to pass a Canadian Driver’s License visual acuity test.

Poor vision is the world’s largest unmet disability. Being able to see clearly can be life changing, allowing our mission beneficiaries to read, to attend school, to learn a new trade.
