The Kilema Support Fund Tuition Project has provided scholarship assistance since 2008 to a cohort of 65 disadvantaged children and youth in Kilema District, Kilimanjaro Region of Tanzania.
Current Work
While many students have completed studies since then, KSF still funds up to 15 students annually at all levels, particularly university. Access to education both for boys and girls is a challenge in this rural area where income generated by subsistence farming on ever smaller plots fails to keep pace with rising educational costs. Education for youth is highly valued at Kilema and is widely viewed as a source of hope for individuals, families and communities. This project evolved in response to requests from parents, grandparents, community leaders and local physicians to help disadvantaged children both reach their educational goals and broaden their economic security in the future.
Next Steps
Secure funding to continue supporting our students and grow the educational opportunities available to this district.

Each contribution directed toward an approved program or project will be used as restricted with the understanding that when the need for such a program or project has been met, or cannot be completed for any reason, the Board will determine the reallocation of remaining restricted contributions.
