Project: Ukerewe medical mission (March 25th to April 12th, 2020)
Start Date: 25/03/2020
My name is Marianne Surmann and I will be leading a two-week medical mission to Tanzania, March 25 to April 12, 2020. Our group is the Canada-Africa Community Health Alliance (CACHA), a non-profit, non-governmental organization that was founded in 2001 by a medical doctor from the University of Ottawa, Dr. Don Kilby who has been awarded the Nelson Mandela Humanitarian Award, the Ontario Award for Good Citizenship, and most recently the Governor General’s Meritorious Service Medal for his work with CACHA.
Thanks so much for you donation. Your donation goes directly to medical supplies, medication and primary care to over 4000 patients on Ukerewe Island, Tanzania.
We work closely together as a team of Canadian and Tanzanian nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, physicians, surgeons, and logisticians to provide the local people with free health care services including:
- primary health care
- eye exams and reading glasses
- HIV, Malaria and Syphilis testing
- dental extractions
Come to Tanzania with us! I am also looking for volunteers to join our team of 15-20 people and below you can find an outline of what you might expect if you come along. Both Medical and non-medical people are welcome! Interested? email me @ firstname.lastname@example.org

The individuals on these pages are raising funds in support of CACHA’s mission. The funds are given to CACHA to defray the costs of participation in, and supplies for, the mission, and not for the personal benefit of any participant. CACHA retains control over the use of all donated funds. Once the needs for the program have been met, or cannot be completed for any reason, any remaining contributions will be used where needed most.
