SUPPORTING UKEREWE ISLAND IN COVID-19 PANDEMIC
We have been travelling to Ukerewe Island in Lake Victoria, Tanzania since 2009. We have worked with our partners to provide 15+ medical missions serving thousands of vulnerable people in need of urgent health services. As a result of COVID-19 we are unable to go this October, 2021. This decision was not made lightly and it was made with full participation with our Tanzanian partners.
Our Canadian CACHA team is raising funds to send to Ukerewe Island District to assist with the COVID-19 pandemic. We cannot tell you the stats on how many people have contracted the virus nor how many people have died. We do know the country is struggling and that we have lost Tanzanian friends and colleagues. Vaccinations are not reaching African countries quickly enough.
In close discussion with our Ukerewe Island partners we are raising funds to purchase oxygen cylinders, suction machines, patient monitors and pulse oximeters – equipment urgently needed to treat suffering patients.
Thank you for your generosity, care, and compassion. Your donation will save lives.
