Medical Equipment for Shirati KMT Hospital

Medical Equipment for Shirati KMT Hospital

Our Canadian teams have been travelling to Shirati Hospital on the eastern shore of Lake Victoria since 2008. We have worked with Dr. Chirangi, Medical Officer-in-Charge, to provide 6 medical missions to provide urgent health services to thousands of vulnerable people in their rural villages. Nine infrastructure teams have developed strategic plans, painted the hospital, built an ICU, maintenance shops and an expanded medical laboratory. Two large water storage tanks were donated, shipped in containers and installed, providing water to all patient areas for washing, showering and drinking. Computer systems were introduced and staff were trained.

As a result of COVID-19 we were unable to go to Shirati in 2021. We discussed with Dr. Chirangi how we could best assist the hospital from our homes in Canada, and we agreed the most impactful approach would be for our teams to fundraise sufficient money to enable Shirati to buy critical medical equipment to treat the many extra patients they are admitting.

The most needed items are Oxygen concentrators, an infant warmer/monitor, and an operating room light. Each Oxygen concentrator generates a flow of 10L/minute and can serve 2 patients at a time. Patient’s lives will be saved in the ICU and other critical care areas.

Please help the Shirati KMT Hospital care for critical patients during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Thank you for your generosity.
